You guessed it, Kendrick Lamar took the top spot on MTV’s Hottest MC’s List that released earlier this week. That means no Jay Z which is almost blasphemy in my eyes. 2 Chainz took the number 2 spot on the list ahead of big names like Drake, Kanye West and Big Sean. 

 The list hopefully inspires artists to get back on their game and make next year’s list as well. A bit of a shock to see Jay Z not on the list considering the fact that half the people on the list, learned how to flow after Jigga taught them. 

AS MTV explained, this is the Hottest MC list as opposed to the best MCs ever. It’s almost like creating a Best in the NBA list in 2001 and then not being surprised when Air Jordan comes up at #7 or even missing off of the list. The Hottest is defined simply by what’s new and now, not necessarily the best. Marinate on that. Congrats to all of those who made the list, no surprise to see Kendrick on top of the game. THAT we can agree with.
