The Sound Live was born out of the love for the underground music scene in New York City and the desire to make sound accessible for all. Founded by Mayra Ramales in 2014, her academic studies in Speech-Language Pathology and Deaf Studies, as well as her concert photography experiences at night brought together both Deafness and Sound. Noticing that the underground music scene has a difficult time being noticed at the same time that Deaf people have a difficult time existing in a predominantly hearing world, helped her come up with The Sound Live.
Today, we offer opportunities to writers and photographers across the United States. Our photographers have photographer Vans Warped Tour, Mayhem Festival, Lamb of God, Slayer, Halsey, Tool, and Incubus, just to name a few. We pride ourselves in writing about music from a cultural studies perspective, with inclusivity always in mind. If you are interested in contributing, email us at TheSoundLiveOfficial@gmail.com
