Cheech Marin is one of the stars of this years “The Long Game,” a film screened at SXSW. Along with Marin, the film stars Jay Hernandez, Dennis Quaid, and Brett Cullen. The screening of the film was packed from the beginning, an entire theater full of fans attending for the film. In person was also Cheech Marin, Dennis Quiad, and Director Julio Quintana.
The film follows a group of Mexican-American teenagers looking to play golf in Del Rio, Texas. They are met with prejudice and racism in their small town in the 1950s, yet rise to their full potential, making it into larger golf competitions. Showing the way that true talent can not be denied and that prejudice never wins, the film achieves its purpose through both a historical and comedic lens.
